character Edge Options
Examples of the character edge options listed on the form above.
Straight Clean Edge
This board shows an example of a clean edge, with as much as possible of the natural shape of the wood maintained.
Strong Clean Rustic Edge
This board shows an example of a smooth natural edge that still features plenty of original character. In this case, the sapwood has been gently removed down to the native hardwood layer while leaving all of the natural nooks and crannies which Mother Nature put there.
Rough Live Edge
Also known as a “Native Edge,” this wood sample shows that the tree was dead before it was cut as there is termite evidence in the sapwood. This is not a sign of a defect, more a reminder of the cycle of life of a tree. Many boards still have the original bark attached. Please specify if you would like that retained or removed. In either case, these parts of the board are very soft and will be strengthened with penetrating epoxy to stabilize them and prevent breakage.
